Students of Pallara State School now have the opportunity to learn more about the home secrets of Pallara's brushtail possums and squirrel gliders. These marsupials have taken up residence in the School’s nest boxes.

The “Home Secrets of Pallara Marsupials” project involves students in scientific observations via infra-red “spy” cameras that feed images directly into the classroom. “This could be huge! We have a project which will teach students the importance of our native wildlife,” enthused Ric Nattrass, local wildlife identity.

Classroom teacher, Jonathan Clark said, “This project will potentially involve students from all over Australia as we develop worthwhile curriculum activities and utilise web based technologies to involve partners beyond our own school.”

Project Coordinator, Ruth Miller of the school's P&C acknowledged the support of Telstra's Kids Fund, the school's P&C, and Ric Nattrass. Ms Miller said, “Now with the flick of a switch, students can view ‘glider cam’ and ‘possum cam’ currently occupied by a family of very cute squirrel gliders and a fluffy brush tail possum.”
