Bring your own Device (BYOD) is a new pathway supporting the delivery of 21st century learning. it is a term used to describe a digital ownership model where students use their personally owned devices to access the department's information and communication (ICT) network.

You will find all the information needed on this website about Pallara State School's BYOD Program. If you are requring to get a BYO Device for your child, continue on to Joining the program page located on this website and follow the 4 step process.

We have chose to support the implementation of a BYOD model because:
  • BYOD recognises the demand for seamless movement between school, work, home and play

  • our BYOD program assists students to improve their learning outcomes in a contemporary educational setting

  • Assisting students to become responsible digital citizens enhances the teaching learning process and achievement of student outcomes as well as the skills and experiences that will prepare them for their future studies and careers.

BYOD @ Pallara State School

Program Overview

The focus of the BYOD program at Pallara State School is to provide the tools and resources to the 21st-Century Learner. A successful BYOD program requires technology to be seamlessly integrated throughout the school's curriculum. Increased access to technology is essential for teaching students skills for a future in which, as societal trends suggest, digital literacy is key. The individual use of personal devices is a way to empower students to work to their full potential and develop essential learning habits with the support of digital tools.

Learning results from continuous dynamic interaction among students, teachers, parents and the extended community. Technology immersion does not diminish the vital role of the teacher. On the contrary, it transforms the teacher from a director of learning to a facilitator of learning. Effective teaching and learning with technology integrates technology into the curriculum any time, any place.

This page provides parents with essential information regarding the implementation, management and operation of our BYOD program. We have developed simple how-to guides that systematically explain some fundamental processes parents/guardians may need to know.
