Pallara State School have Inclusion Teachers and Teacher Aides who support our students with verified disabilities; Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Speech and Language Impaired and Physical Impairment.
They also support students who require learning support with the curriculum or students who require targeted intervention within a specific learning area. The students are supported by the Inclusion Teachers and Teacher Aides via small groups and one to one support.
The Student Support Services Committee, decides what support a student requires once they have been referred and discussed. Some programs provided are:
Literacy support; curriculum based and functional literacy skills; reading and writing.

- Speech Programs
- Social skills; peer negotiations, following directions, Zones of Regulation, Conflict Resolution, Friendship Building
- Gross and fine motor programs
The Head of Special Education, coordinates the timetabling of the Inclusion Teachers, STLaN and Inclusion Teacher Aides to ensure support is targeted to student needs and delivered at the optimal learning time.
At Pallara State School, our Head of Special Education teacher ensures that there is cohesion between all stakeholders and will liaise between parents, classroom teachers and outside agencies. This teacher also ensures current and reviewed reports for individual students are authentic, relevant and specific to the student’s needs.
Student referrals and reports are up to date and recorded on One School. There is also student support plans with specific goals and strategies on One School. Teachers are also expected to record student adjustments and differentiated strategies recorded within the curriculum plans for each unit across the Key Learning Areas of English, Maths and Science.
Pallara is also in the process of implementing Individual Curriculum Plan’s for students requiring significant support with the expected curriculum.
